Calgary has four quadrants: northwest (NW), northeast (NE), southwest (SW) and southeast (SE). The City of Calgary's standard address format ends with a quadrant qualifier, for example 625 25 AV SE. The City publishes its quadrant boundaries on its Administrative Boundaries map.

The letters NW, NE, SW or SE at the end of a Calgary address are the quadrant: northwest, northeast, southwest or southeast. The City of Calgary's standard address format ends with a quadrant qualifier, for example 76 MARQUIS WY SW. Include those letters when you look up a home.

Check the Michael Smith Team's A to Z lists of Calgary communities by quadrant, where each community links to its page. If a community crosses a line, we also note it on the neighbouring quadrant page. To check the lines yourself, open the City of Calgary's Administrative Boundaries map.

A few do, including Beltline, Livingston, Tuxedo Park, Beddington Heights, Highland Park, Huntington Hills and Thorncliffe. The Michael Smith Team lists each under one quadrant and notes the other, like "(also in NE)". Livingston, for example, is about three-quarters NE and one-quarter NW by area (City of Calgary boundary maps, our own calculation). This is not a full list.

The City of Calgary's community profiles list 206 communities (2021 Census edition). As of October 2026, the Michael Smith Team's lists cover the ones with a page on its site: 52 in NW, 28 in NE, 75 in SW and 36 in SE. A community that crosses a line is counted once.
